Din
14:15 - 14:45
Din

They're four lads, with four instruments, and armed with a whole heap of vocals. So how best to describe DIN? Raucous? Relentless? Complex? Dancey? Atmospheric? It's Folk but it isn't. It's Gypsy but it's not. It's Jazz but it's different. It's Pop but it's heavy. It's Rock but it's light. Simply put: DIN are an extraordinarily talented group of musicians whose full throttle live shows and musical complexity have engaged with audiences both at home and abroad. Glastonbury - Isle of Wight - Secret Garden Party - Stockholm - Utrecht - Cologne - Hamburg - Newcastle - Manchester - Liverpool - London - London - London. And left in their wake? A trail of sore feet and addictive melodies. Currently at work on a whole new set of material - including a full-blooded / full band EP alongside Batov Records Founder and Producer DJ Kobayashi and an acoustic bootleg listing entitled 'Songs for Friends in Dark Places' worked on at Fat Tank Studios and DIN HQ - DIN have long had a capacity to surprise and enthral to which few bands can compare. Set for release over the Spring and Summer, the band plans to tour extensively (with some Swedish dates already confirmed) to not only promote the songs but to also showcase an obsessively catchy live performance. So how best to describe DIN? Simply put: Four friends with four instruments - doing what they love doing the most and in a manner that demands your attention.

SONS motto is simple, why tease them with a wall of sound when you can stun ‘em then cover them over with concrete? Best experienced live to enjoy the full raw power and feel your skull vibrating to their unhinged yet beautiful glory. Baby Goliath
17:30 - 18:00
Baby Goliath

Although its name suggests the presence of a full band, Baby Goliath is essentially the work of singer/songwriter Alan Mitchell. The project began in 2014 in a bedroom on the south coast of England in the seaside town of Hastings with just one microphone. In this room the first acoustic demo’s were produced, drawing influences from the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel, Eels, Sparklehorse and Grandaddy. A lo-fi element was present from the start, masked in pop sensibility. Baby Goliath was originally a platform to release acoustic versions of songs that didn’t quite make the cut with Alan’s alternative/indie rock band ‘King the Native.’ Over time Baby Goliath has become an established band, taking on a more aggressive sound, but still maintaining the lo-fi attitude towards recording. Recruiting multi instrumentalist members from other well known bands in and around the indie rock scene in the south east including Tom Warren on guitar (Monsterface, Aqualassie), Brady Bowles on drums (The Lucid Experiment, Illustrated Man), Harvey Palmer on keys (King the Native, The Lucid Experiment) and Mike Thomas on bass. Baby Goliath is already cooking up quite a storm among the music scene in the south coast of the UK with an interesting blend of indie pop and lo-fi.

Kid Kapichi

Watching Kid Kapichi is a bit like watching swan lake, performed on a rolling river by a fleet of forty harrier jump jets, underpinned by sweet melodies of tortured youth... WE - ARE - Z is a collective born out of travels and adventures. A collision of eclectic personalities and ideas that came together in cafés from Dublin to Paris, in the queue for the toilets on a plane flying over the frozen wastelands of Alaska, in a household of musicians and artists in leafy West London and, predictably, in the fog of 1s and 0s that is the internet

DODGY
20:30 - 20:50
DODGY
20:30 - 20:50

‘What Are We Fighting For’ is the fifth album from the original Dodgy line-up – Nigel Clark, Mathew Priest and Andy Miller – and the first of new material since their widely lauded comeback reunion album, ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’. It is also the first album to feature relatively new member Stu Thoy on bass and vibes, who joined the band to help them tour the last album and has managed to hang on in there ever since, and their first for new label Cherry Red Records. Self-produced and mixed in Worcestershire, the 10 track album was produced by Nigel Clark, with additional production from the band and recorded and engineered by Dave ‘Done’ Draper at Tower Studios, Pershore UK.
Now, four years on from the reunion album, Dodgy are finally ready to release their new album ‘What Are We Fighting For’, featuring the amazing Vanessa Wilson who brings the LOVE on four of the tracks. The band had known Vanessa from the fantastic Ultrasound for a good few year’s and indeed Math and Andy had been in a Northern Soul band with her, The Soulwinners. One of the tracks especially, ‘What Are We Fighting For’ benefitted from Vanessa’s input and along with ‘You Give Drugs A Bad Name’ became the central tracks of album.
Influenced by July, Harmonium and Can and Nigel’s new found love of bands like Atlas Sound and White Fence, Dodgy believe ‘What Are We Fighting For’ is their best ever record, but they’re not the only ones – Cenzo Townshend (Florence, U2, Primal Scream etc) who worked with Dodgy on their first record, heard the demos and demanded to mix some tracks. Similarly, Rob Da Bank heard two tracks and offered Dodgy a slot on the Mainstage at Bestival in September 2015. Dodgy’s 2012 comeback album ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’, was a long time coming, 15 years to be precise since the double platinum selling ‘Free Peace Sweet’. From the rave reviews and many media plaudits that were heaped upon ‘Stand Upright….’ it seemed that the original line up of the band had done the impossible – to reform and make a contemporary and relevant album that surpassed their previous work. Testament indeed to the unique chemistry and overflowing creativity of Nigel Clark, Andy Miller and Mathew Priest and mixer Matt Pence. Creating a sound with “golden harmonies and echoes of CSN&Y and Fleet Foxes”, and prompting The Word magazine to say “They’ve just made the record of their career by a country mile”, The Guardian described the album as a “revelation” whilst it went on to get 4**** reviews in Mojo, Uncut, Q, The Times, The Mirror and The Express.
The first time round, Dodgy were only together for seven years but in that time they sold over a million records worldwide, released three albums and enjoyed 12 Top 40 singles, including ‘Staying Out For The Summer’, ‘In A Room’, ‘If You’re Thinking Of Me’ and the Top 5 hit ‘Good Enough’ – still a staple of the radio playlists. They sold out the Brixton Academy for three nights in a row and were awarded an unprecedented 90-minute Saturday evening slot on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1997 just before Radiohead. Not bad, considering that they also partied harder than an Ewok.
Since the release of ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’, the band haven’t really stopped as live gigs and festival appearances have always been a crucial part of the Dodgy experience, for many they are the perfect festival band. The band have performed at most festivals worth their salt, such as Bestival, Camp Bestival, V Festival, Glastonbury, Wychwood, Kendal Calling and many more across the UK and Europe.
‘What Are We Fighting For’ is set for release in late Summer with a full UK tour in the Autumn. Dodgy will play the new album in full for the first time on June 1st 2016 at The Convent near Stroud. The show will also be broadcast live on the internet around the world and will also mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s classic album ‘Free Peace Sweet’.

FØXE

Indie Grunge Pop
FØXE
22:00 - 22:20

FØXE are a cross between a manly woodcutter and pretentious art school. They play loud guitar based indie/pop music with choruses so catchy they haunt you while you sleep, playing shows everywhere and have been played on various radio stations. They have been quoted for saying 'music is our life' which is sadly true as they work harder on their music than relationships. Check them out.

Marie White
22:30 - 23:00
Soulful singer/songwriter
Marie White
22:30 - 23:00

The Marie White Band may not necessarily slip comfortably into a category. With roots placed firmly in soul and funk but with the occaisional pop/rock twist, they are sure to get you up on your feet. Don't be surprised if Marie and her band of merry men compose some, shall we say, unexpected medleys. From Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross to Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars, their repetorie of songs is varied and endless. Now dance.

Dorey The Wise
21:30 - 21:50

No stranger to Fat Tuesday these boys are ones to watch!. Over the past year they secured repeated plays on BBC Introducing culminating in a second live session, were Band of the week for Richer Unsigned, featured in q Magazine and ending the year with a support slot for Tom Chaplin and a clutch of new songs. All of which has added a more adventurous and emotive edge to the four piece’s already effervescent set.
“To call an unsigned band the future kings of indie may be a somewhat far-fetched idea but, where Dorey The Wise are concerned, there couldn’t be a more fitting claim. Taking the typical components of indie rock and splashing them with post-punk, Dorey The Wise – a four-piece from Hastings, East Sussex -are an extremely innovative outfit, bursting with passion and boasting sheer, raw talent.” Gigslutz

Crawling from the wreckage of a head-on collision between Professor Longhair’s mother root honky tonk, Tom Waits’ low-life tales of dreams withering on the vine and Memphis Slim’s fire comes a beast that will not conform to the UK blues scene… stodge A man with a past, who gave up selling sex to sell soul. And sex. He plays dirty blues piano not seen (since Esquerita taught Little Richard a lick or two circa 1952) and sings with a power and honesty rarely heard.

The band have been described by Louder Than War as “The future of punk rock”, whilst Vive Le Rock said that Wonk Unit have, “found their own sound. It’s punk son, but not as we know it.”

Nova Twins
21:10 - 21:30

Hailing from South East London and Essex with a sound so intense that it cannot be silenced, Nova Twins are without compare, their music built on innovation. Defiant and raw, Amy Love and Georgia South make a fierce, no-holds-barred sound, the promise delivered of the evolution of rapcore, the beating heart of punk rock ethics. Thundering drums, intense lyrics, and the rumble of shuddering bass lines; make way for your new favourite band.
Nova Twins are all about that bass: the lurching, grinding, seismically distorted, FX-mangled sound that propels the music of this young London duo….” -The Guardian – ‘New Band of the Week’

Colossal noise with massive catchy hooks make for a supremely exciting live show - and repeat plays of recently released single Ice Cream by Steve Lamacq on 6music, mean these boys are more hyped than ever when their feet touch the stage.

Din
22:10 - 22:40

This album features the majority of Sam Green & the Midnight Heist, Jaz Delorean, from Tankus the Henge and other UK musicians. This summer, Ben was picked up as an endorsee for Anderwood guitars and signed by IRL Records.
Ben's songs range from intimate ballad to high energy foot stomper and everywhere in between. His solo shows are part comedy, part travelogue and always a hairs breadth from careening off the road. His communication and rapport with the audience is a rare and often hilarious thing to see. Never one to shy away from a road story or a joke before breaking your heart or making you want to get up and dance, Ben is both new & old in the same breath.
